What’s the plan?

For this park to happen, three things need to fall into place: we need to show that most people want it, we need to find the funding, and we need to pressure our elected representatives to make it happen.

Funding the park

There are a number of ways we can make this work financially:

  • With enough political support, we can ask the Government to fund it directly

  • The Codleen Windfarm community fund is a real option worth pursuing

  • Public crowdfunding can raise money and show just how much demand there is

  • And if we have to (but this is a last resort), we can push developers to integrate a park into their plans for the land. Our councillors can negotiate that space into any planning permission granted.

So what can you do?

Talk about it. It sounds obvious, but it genuinely matters. Talk to your friends, your family, your neighbours. Make the case for the park. We need public support badly, and without it this goes nowhere. We are putting together a petition, and the best way to make it land is to make sure that, when it drops, everyone already knows what it is about.

Tell us why you want a park. Sign up below to add your testimony to the ones we are collecting. The more voices we have behind this, the stronger our case becomes, and your words could be exactly what convinces someone else

Write to your local representatives. Get in touch with your councillors and your TDs. We are putting together draft emails and a list of all the relevant contacts to make it as easy as possible. You would be surprised how much a few emails from real constituents can move things. Get your friends and family to write too if you can.

Endorse us. If you are a local business, community group, club, representative or activist, someone with a platform and a voice, talk about us and sign up below so that we can talk about you. The more respected voices behind this, the harder it is to ignore.

Stay in the loop. We will be organising events and actions as the campaign builds. Sign up below to hear about them when they happen.

Join us. This is going to take the whole village to pull off. If you have any energy to give, we want you involved. Whether that is writing, photography, design, illustration, or just being someone who can help with local events and leaflet drops. If you are plugged into a community, a sports club, a parents group or a school and think you could bring people along, that is incredibly valuable. Hit the sign up button below and come and be part of this.
